That car commute is a soul killer. Before bikes and guitars Dan was a very sad man. Now his life is changed for the better and he gets to do what he likes with friends all the time!

Now I’m riding my bike and it feels alright
I got them old jeans on and they ain’t feelin’ tight (heck, I might need a belt)
I got the sun on my back, the breeze in my hair
Feels so good yeah I don’t have a care
I’m riding my bike
I getta do what I like

(it’s the only way to fly)
You can wave to your friends
and they’ll say hello
Cars pass by but they don’t really know
When you’re riding your bike
You getta to do what you like
When you’re riding your bike
You getta to do what you like
When you’re riding your bike
You getta to do what you like

Lyrics to MR. WHEEL
VERSE I
Mr. Wheel we see you, the things that you do
And what you won’t do!
What you won’t do, what you say
The people who pay
And who pays for you
Who pays for you? Now what do THEY get out-of-it? We’re gonna add it up
CHORUS
Add it up
Count it up
Count it up but
You can’t take it with you when you’re gone, you know?
Add it up
Count it up
Count it up but you can’t take it with you
Where you’re going to
VERSE II
Mr. Knight well they gave you a stick
They make you use it
You got no choice now
Got no choice but to do what they say
And then you take home the pay
But who pays for you
We pay for you
But what do we get but the back of your stick
We’re gonna add it up
CHORUS
Harmonica Solo
VERSE III
Mr White they stole all the land
On which we now stand
It’s just the way it is
The way it is, the way you want it to stay
But it’s washing away
And who pays for it
The future pays but what do they get out of it
They’re gonna add it up
French Horn Solo
Chorus
Mr. Wheel we see you, the things that you do
And what you won’t do

Here's a little clip from the Old World Deli show DKB played last Saturday (November 5, 2022, Corvallis, Oregon). It was a great audience and a lot of fun!
This here is the second verse and chorus of Dan Kaufman original blues number called "Fool with the Blues". Saturday it was just the rock trio with Dave, Aidan, and Dan.
Come hear "Fool with the Blues' with the five piece (+Jen and Pyata) this upcoming Wednesday the 16th at the Laurelthirst 9-11p. Bring your dancing shoes👞👡 'cause they plan to rock!. 🎸
Get inside and warm up to music and dancing with The Dan Kaufman Band. No Cover!
with
Jen Harrison on ukulele & horn
Aidan Kaufman, bass
Pyata Penedo, percussion
Dave Nuding, drums
A few weeks ago Dan played at the "Flat Country" Timber sale protest on The McKenzie river organized by Oregon Wild and Cascadia Wild. YouTube channel "Climate Crisis Progressive" used audio of the live recording of Dan's original song "Just Begun" played at the rally during the end part of the video. The video is being used to raise awareness about the proposed clear cut on the headwaters of the McKenzie River.
Learn more about this old-growth timber sale by watching the video below and check out this post at Oregon Wild.

The band is back! After a pandemic hiatus the full band played its first indoor show since November 2019 in celebration of the fall equinox (9/22/22) or what we called Rock-quinox! What a great reception from the audience at the Laurelthirst while we played several new songs live for the first time with the five-piece. The band was Aidan Kaufman on bass. Pyata Penedo (DKB producer from Figure8Sound) played percussion and sang backup. Jen Harrison also sang backup and played ukulele and mellophone. Propelling the band on drum kit was “Nashville” Dave Nuding. Of course, Dan sang, played guitar, and harmonica.
Here are some video snippets from the show taken by Lucas Kaufman.
Stay up to date with DKB shows at https://www.dankaufmanband.com/tour, Bandsintown, and/or sign up for the email newsletter at https://www.dankaufmanband.com/dkb-newsletter .
"Rock-quinox" is a celebration of the power of the celestial AND music. As the nights start getting longer than the days it’s a time for harvest and dance. Join the rockin' celebration of the autumn equinox with The Dan Kaufman Band at Portland’s oldest music venue, The Laurelthirst.
DKB plays original Western Rock & Blues and also plays music from inspiring songwriters like Johnny Cash and Jimmy Cliff.
Bring your dancing shoes or a little something from the garden to swap and share with old friends and new.
Band lineup will include:
Dan- vocals, guitar & harmonica
Aidan Kaufman- bass
Pyata Penedo- percussion & vocals
